About me

It always amazes me how much influence a birth date has on our personalities. As unique as we are as individuals, it seems being born on a certain block of time within the year can determine the basis of our personalty traits and be accurate AF! Anyway, I’m a cancerian, and my personality trait fits unlike any other astronomy sign. So yes, I am a bit sensitive and I can be quite introverted and comfortable in my shell but I’m compassionate and loyal to those I love! That may also explain why I’m such a home body and love making a house into a home using design to exude warmth, comfort and just pure admiration for a living space.

I was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, NY. I always loved my community. A small, quiet suburb that was predominately owned by African American and Caribbean professionals. Manicured lawns, low crime, but easily accessible to everything the city and Long Island had to offer. As much as I loved my block and my neighborhood, I knew that I would eventually venture out to see how it was to live anywhere else. One thing I’d always wonder when traveling and seeing locals in the places I’ve visited is “what made these individuals settle here?” “What makes this place home to them?”

Since college, I’ve lived in a few places that I could never foresee calling and feeling like home. From a small dorm room, to a 600 Sq Ft NYC apartment to a 3,400sq ft home in NC. What I realized is that, anyplace that you put a little love into can feel like home. Eventually, I began to think, “I will never go back to my old neighborhood”. But my journey has circled me back to home base together with my husband and 3 kids. And it’s…a beautiful thing. What seemed to me initially to be a step back actually bought us a few steps forward. Yes, the house is in need of updates but I see opportunity to bring out the new in something old. It was also an adjustment for the kids going from a house with plenty space to my family home which now felt so small. But, it honestly was the best decision for us.
When major life changes bring any uncertainty I think of this quote to remind me that I’m in the right place ” Where you are in your life right now is both temporary and exactly where you need to be. You arrived at this moment to learn what you need to learn so you can be who you want to be to create the life you want.” -Hal.

I hope this space allows me to bring out my light of creativity and share it to anyone who visits this page.
